Pratyasha: Paediatric Palliative Care*

Project Overview

Pratyasha is an institutional design proposal developed for a design competition, planned as a paediatric palliative care centre for children below the age of 16. Spread across a 4-acre site in Nagpur, the project focuses on creating a healing environment through thoughtful master planning and spatial segregation to ensure privacy, clarity of movement, and emotional comfort. The design is deeply informed by child psychology, studying how space, scale, and environment impact well-being. Natural greens in the form of trees and landscaped zones, along with blue elements introduced through water bodies, are strategically integrated to promote calm, healing, and mental peace. The campus is envisioned as a safe, nurturing setting that supports medical care while prioritizing emotional resilience for children and their families.
